SETUP COURSE · STEP 1

Setup and First Launch

Steps to get Dragon listening on any Freeman workstation.

Dragon usually starts on its own. On most Freeman devices, and whenever Epic is launched, Dragon opens automatically. If the DragonBar is already on your screen, you are likely set up already.

Which microphone do I have?

Nuance PowerMic III
Standard Freeman Dragon license

Hold the record button to dictate; release to stop. The DragonBar shows:

DragonBar microphone red, not recordingRed = not recording
DragonBar microphone green, recordingGreen = recording
Nuance PowerMic 4
Standard Freeman Dragon license

Works the same as the PowerMic III: hold the record button, watch for the green microphone.

Philips SpeechMike
Standard Freeman Dragon license

Works the same as the PowerMic III: hold the record button, watch for the green microphone.

Nuance PowerMic Mobile
Separate license required

Appears in the list for everyone but requires a separate license. Do not select it unless IT has assigned one to you; selecting it without a license produces a license error. The DragonBar shows:

Getting help

All Dragon support goes through the IT Support Help Desk at 417-347-4500. Call for a missing DMO Local icon, a license, help setting your Windows default microphone, copying a colleague's Auto-texts to your profile (with their permission), or one-on-one training. Nuance's own tutorial videos are inside Dragon under the DragonBar menu > Training.

Next: Dragon Quick Reference Dragon is running. Now learn the voice commands, punctuation, and Auto-texts you will use every day.
